
When did you start cooking? Why?
I started when I was 15 years old, but officially as a chef after I graduated from high school. Why? Because it’s fun.
What is your favorite dish to cook?
When I am working, I am in charge of the sushi bar, so I make sushi. I don’t cook all the time, but when I am with friends at home, I like to cook some soups, stews, pasta sometimes.
So you like to cook more than just Japanese cuisine?
About half-half. I enjoy cooking French and Italian as well.
Did you go to culinary school to learn?
No. I began right after graduating from high school and I didn’t really have the money for culinary school. Actually, people didn’t use to go to culinary school, but would learn under a really good chef at real restaurants.
Where did you begin your cooking career?
At a Japanese catering company.
